SWMU 37 – Waste Oil Storage Area/Building 200

This SWMU consists of a covered, open-sided, concrete pad, which is curbed. The pad is located behind Hangar 200, and served as a container storage area for waste gasoline, oils, and other wastes. During the 1988 VSI, oil stains were observed on the concrete pad. During the 1993 follow up inspection, an area of stressed vegetation was observed adjacent to the back side of the pad. Elevated organic vapor readings were taken from the soil in this area.

Based on the findings of the inspections, the EPA required a first phase RFI for surface soils.

Status

• RFI work plans were approved in 1995.
• Investigations at this unit (a part of OU 1) were performed in accordance with the approved RFI work plans.
• No evidence of releases was found.
• The RCRA 7003 Administrative Order on Consent recommends a Determination of Corrective Action Complete With Controls for SWMU 37.
• Corrective Action Complete with Controls as stated in the 1/29/07 RCRA § 7003 Administrative Order on Consent.
