SWMU 62 – Former Bundy Disposal Area

SWMU 62 is located at the southeast end of the base in the Bundy area.  Historic records reviews identified this area as a disposal or fill area with multi-toned, mounded of gravel and charcoal, metal and building debris, and drums.

Surface soil and subsurface soil samples were collected to characterize the site.  Based upon the occurrence of one analyte, the site may have been impacted by previous activities.

Status

• A Phase I RFI is recommended in the RCRA 7003 Administrative Order on Consent.
• The Revised Final Phase I RFI Work Plan for SWMU 62 was submitted on April 17, 2008 and approved by the EPA on May 13, 2008.
• Phase I RFI field investigation was completed in June 2008.
• A Revised Final Phase I RFI Report was submitted to the EPA on January 13, 2010, and approved on February 18, 2010.
• Navy requested an extension on February 19, 2010 until June 2010 for the Full RFI Work Plan due to funding.
• The Draft Full RFI Work Plans for SWMU 62 were submitted to the EPA June 18, 2010.
• The Revised Final Full RCRA Facility Investigation Work Plan was submitted to the EPA on April 14, 2011.
