SWMU 78 – Pole Yard

SWMU 78 a concrete storage pad located at the intersection of Forrestal Drive and Valley Forge Road, off Hollandia Street. The pad has a concrete berm acting as a secondary containment, with drains to release accumulated rainwater.

An area of stained soil was documented during Navy site inspection on June 15 and 19, 2007. The Navy notified EPA of the release on June 29, 2007.

Status

• EPA requested a Phase I RCRA Facility Investigation (RFI) be conducted for this site
• The Final Phase I RFI Work Plan for SWMU 78 was submitted on April 17, 2008 and approved by the EPA on May 13, 2008.
• The RFI Field Investigation was completed in June 2008.
• A Final Phase I RCRA Facility Investigation Report was submitted to the EPA on June 12, 2009 and approved by the EPA on August 11, 2009.
• The Navy submitted an extension request for submittal of the Draft Full RFI Work Plans on October 15, 2009.
• EPA commented on the Draft full RCRA Facility Investigation Work Plan on June 16, 2010.
• An updated schedule for the Revised Final Full RCRA Facility Investigation Work Plan was submitted as requested in the EPA comment letter dated April 19, 2011.
